Tennis court privacy screens are commonly known as windbreak nets. They serve multiple key roles beyond just blocking views.
More than privacy: multiple functions of tennis court windbreak nets
Improve playing performance. This is one of their core functions. A stable visual background (often dark green or black) helps players track and judge the trajectory of the fast-moving yellow ball more clearly, thereby improving focus and shot accuracy. At the same time, the net effectively reduces the interference of crosswinds, making ball flight more stable despite weather conditions.
Protect personal privacy. High quality privacy nets block outside views, creating a distraction free environment for players during matches or training, which helps maintain concentration.
Enhance court aesthetics. Compared to bare metal fencing, uniform windbreak nets make the court look more professional and attractive. They also provide a platform to display club logos, sponsor brands, or advertisements.

Comprehensive product features
Core material. Over 90% of high quality privacy nets on the market are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE). Some suppliers also offer PVC coated or PET options. Most products are UV treated to resist fading and aging under prolonged sunlight.
Design and specifications. A standard privacy screen typically measures 2 meters in height and 12 or 18 meters in length, matching the short side (baseline) and long side (side line) of a standard tennis court. To facilitate attachment to the fence, rust resistant brass or plastic grommets are installed every 50 centimeters along the edges.
Key technical parameters. Shading rate or density is the most critical indicator, determining both the level of privacy and wind permeability, generally ranging from 50% to 95%. A high density net of 90% or 95% is used in key areas for maximum privacy and the best visual background, but it creates significant wind resistance and should be used cautiously in very windy conditions. A density of around 50% is more common for windbreak nets, striking a balance between wind protection, breathability, and service life. Breathability is taken into account in many products to ensure safety in strong winds, allowing some air to pass through while blocking most views, reducing the impact of wind on the net. Weight and durability are expressed in grams per square meter (gsm), typically ranging from 130gsm to 350gsm. Higher values indicate thicker, more durable material, with a service life generally of 3 to 5 years or more.
