Tennis Windbreak Net

  • Tennis Windbreak Net

A tennis court wind screen is a common fabric barrier installed outdoors, usually on the inner side of the outer perimeter fencing. It effectively reduces wind interference during play. Unlike metal mesh fences, which are meant to stop balls from leaving the court, a wind screen works by slowing down and softening airflow.

In addition to reducing wind speed, wind screens offer several practical benefits. They help maintain a stable playing environment by blocking wind, making ball flight more predictable and allowing players to perform consistently. By providing a solid, dark background, they improve visibility of the ball’s speed and trajectory, helping players focus better. They also reduce outside distractions such as moving spectators or passing vehicles, and block dust and some noise. Wind screens can be custom printed with club logos or sponsor branding, adding commercial value.

Core Materials

Outdoor tennis court wind screens are mainly made from the following materials, all of which share good UV resistance, moisture resistance, and durability.

PE/PVC material: Typically woven from PE yarn. It is economical and offers a wind blockage rate of about 50% to 70%, suitable for general courts. An example model is TF-750.

Pure PVC or PVC-coated material: Double-sided PVC coating provides better acid and alkali resistance and greater durability, with a wind blockage rate often above 60% to 70%. Ideal for advanced or professional courts. An example model is TF-950.

High-density polyethylene material: High strength and good durability, often treated with UV and aging inhibitors for a long service life. Available in various custom products.

Common Specifications

When purchasing, size and wind blockage rate are key parameters. A common standard panel size is 2 meters high by 18 or 18.5 meters long. Other sizes such as 1.83 meters by 36.6 meters are also available. Wind screens are typically installed on the inside of perimeter fencing that is 4 to 6 meters high, with the 2-meter high screen covering the critical zone. For ordinary recreational courts, a 50% blockage rate is sufficient. For professional matches or windy regions, a blockage rate of 60% to 70% or higher is recommended to provide a more stable playing environment.

Installation and Purchasing Tips

Installation is straightforward, but attention to details improves performance. For best results, install the wind screen on the main windward side of the court. The screen usually has metal rings (e.g., brass or aluminum) spaced about 300 millimeters (roughly 30 centimeters) along all four edges. Use high-strength S-hooks or weather-resistant cable ties to attach the screen to the fence. Quality products feature reinforced multi-layer edging for greater wind resistance and longer life.
